010: Pretty in Motion — Upcycled Denim 1 OF 1

PRETTY DOESN'T HAVE TO PLAY IT SAFE.

Pretty in Motion is a one-of-one upcycled denim skirt transformed by hand into a wearable piece of SMUTT artwork.

Starting with a pre-existing denim skirt, the entire piece was reworked using a combination of stenciled artwork, decolorant detailing, permanent-marker illustration, metallic gold accents, distressing, fabric manipulation, and hand-applied hardware.

The front is covered in individually finished artwork—flowers, bows, hearts, stars, crowns and SMUTT-inspired smiley characters—creating a layered doodle-style composition across the denim. Metallic gold detailing adds flashes of contrast throughout the artwork.

The back shifts into a lighter sketch treatment, with hand-detailed artwork flowing around both original denim pockets. Larger floral, bow and dice illustrations turn the pockets themselves into part of the design.

And the sides are where this piece really becomes a 1 OF 1. One side features hand-cut openings backed with contrasting red fabric and finished with multicolored safety pins. The opposite side incorporates hand-set eyelets, red fabric accents, gold hardware and iridescent jewelry details, adding movement and dimension from every angle.

The original raw denim hem is left exposed to complete the reconstructed look.
